Non-Academic Projects
In my time in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HMS), I was an executive committee member of the HMS Society. As the Department Head of Events, I was responsible for supervising the Events Department in planning major school events such as camps and talent shows. My two biggest projects were the Leadership and Adventure Camp and the Compulsory School Orientation Programme. Read on to learn more!

Assistant-in-charge (AIC)
Every year, HMS Society organises a 3D2N Leadership and Adventure Camp for over 200 participants with the objectives of promoting interaction between HMS students and shaping them into responsible and self-directed team players. As the AIC of the programme, I oversaw the planning process, vetted proposals from various departments, and ensured a smooth delivery of the camp.

Working alongside my teammates has groomed me into a better leader and enhanced my communication skills. Planning such a large-scale event has also developed my project-planning and time management skills.
Compulsory School Orientation Programme 2018
Tribe Games Department
HMS Society organises a Compulsory School Orientation Programme annually to welcome freshmen. I was put in the Tribe Games Department, where we were given the task of conceptualising and executing a team-bonding game for over 700 freshmen.

Since we had to create and facilitate a game for such a big group of participants, ensuring safety was an important issue. This meant that we had to be extremely detailed and prepared in our planning process, from the logistics to the gameplay, manpower, contingency plans, and so on. While it was taxing to devise so many back-up plans and proposals, it was all worth it when our activities unfolded successfully.

It was through this experience that I discovered my passion and aptitude for planning events. Working in a team also made me a more effective team player.
