Collaboration with Metta Day Activity Centre for the Intellectually Disabled

October to December 2018

As part of my coursework, I taught Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to the intellectually disabled over the duration of 10 weeks. Together with my groupmates, I planned and executed lessons which aimed to teach the clients basic skills such as recognising toilet signs and traffic light signals. We also planned and executed a Christmas celebration for the clients and their families.

My main takeaways

With a passion in the social service sector, along with experience in working with social service organisations both locally and overseas, I have gained valuable knowledge about client-centrism and how social services are managed. I'm able to smoothly plan activities and employ appropriate methods to clients' needs, regardless of their needs and age.
